KEF LS50 Wireless 2 drops audio

KEF LS50 Wireless 2 drops audio

Hi I just got KEF LS50 Wireless 2 speakers that support Spotify. The problem is that there is almost always audio drop at the end of the tracks. So in last 20 seconds of any track audio will drop couple of times and after that it will continue to play the rest of the track.
I am using my iphone 13 to play Spotify but it is the same with Samsung S21.
Other companies music streaming services are working fine.
I have checked with KEF and so far they could not find a reason why is this happening.
Is there any suggestion from Spotify side? Anything that can help here?

Hey there,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

It does sound like you're experiencing troubles using the Connect feature. In this the case, we'd suggest that you start off by checking this page out and trying the troubleshooting steps mentioned under "Connect not working?" part of the article.

If the above steps don't help, we'd recommend that you look for a pending update for both your speaker’s firmware and the Spotify app.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Same issue here.

the support page linked above is useless - refers to basic steps to actually setup Spotify Connect.
this issue is related to existing connections with drop of signal at the end of tracks.

Hey @Sam274,

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please try connecting the speakers to a hotspot on your phone to exclude any network issues? If the issue persists, try resetting them to factory defaults.

Keep us posted.

The problem in my case was double NAT.
I have a home network with two routers - ISP CPE connected to my router with Wifi network.
For testing purpose I enabled wifi network on ISP CPE and there are no issues any more.
This problem is not affecting any other device on my Wifi - PC, laptop, cell phone. They are still on 'old' wifi network and working fine. Spotify is only causing problems with KEF speakers - which led me to believe that there is an issue with KEFs networking function as I found the similar problem with Tidal as well.

Hi.  I have recently been experiencing your exact same issue with spotify & the KEF KS50 II speakers. How did you solve it? I have 2 wireless networks, the main router wireless and a second google wifi mesh - which the KEFs are connected to.

Its more of a workaround then a proper solution - but if you do a factory reset on KEFs and connect them to your main router wireless network Spotify connect should work.
Downside in my case was that, since speakers are no longer in my main WIFI network, I lost connection to my NAS and local storage. KEFs were no longer able to find my FLAC collection (from the KEF app) as they are now in different subnet.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.  The issue I have is that I run all my wifi devices through the Google Wifi Mesh routers as the ISP provided main router has very poor coverage around my property.  The initial kef setup through the Google Wifi was a real pain as the Google Wifi doesn't allow to switch off the 5g network and as the kef will only connect to the 2.4g network it causes real issues connecting. So I'm reluctant to do a full kef factory reset but like you say it's likely my only option. Thanks for your help. Cheers.

I had also this issue with my LS50 wireless II and Spotify Connect since I have them. Somehow, at each end of track, last 15s the sound is really bad and dropping. I have ubiquiti setup and access point with automatic band steering (2.4/5 GHz)

Based on input found on reddit post, I moved my speakers to a specific SSID only on 2.4GHz. I played a couple of tracks and they don't drop anymore at the end. I will monitor of course to see if it's stable over time

Thanks. This issues had been ongoing so I will try your fix.
