Listening to tracks longer than 5 mins show me as going offline to friends

A friends told me my Spotify friend presence kept switching to actively listening to offline, to actively listening to offline and so on.
I already know there is an issue (or 'intended functionality') where spotify always shows the previous track you listened to to friends, rather than the current one, but now we discovered that if i listen to a track that is longer than 5 minutes, it will show me as actively listening for the first 5 minutes, but then shows me as offline until 10-60seconds into the next track. I am using the Windows PC client, and so is my friends.
This feels like a bug - any thoughts on how to fix it?

This is indeed an interesting observation. Do you mind posting a short screen recording of its occurrence?

Before that you can try switching networks and accounts to see if it is isolated to your account only.

Any further device related information would also be useful.
