MP3 files deleted from phone storage

My Question or Issue

I have a couple of mp3 files saved in the Music folder on the local storage of my phone. But every now and then those are gone and the folder is empty. To be clear: I refer to the actual stored files and not to what is shown in local files playlist in the Spotify app. When I recopy the files from my OneDrive into the folder again, the songs reappear in local files playlist and I can play them again. But after a few weeks the files are missing again.

I suspect the files are corrupted and that is why they disappear, since something similar used to happen with downloaded songs on my old phone (a Fairphone 2). Then after every reboot of the phone, the Spotify app and the file encryption were out of sinc (see https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/SD-offline-downloads-lost-after-reboot-Maybe-due-to-SD-moun...)

I have these same files saved on my Galaxy Tab S3 as well (those don’t go missing) and both devices are linked to my Spotify account.

Hi Yordan,

First sorry for this late reply, I was not alerted to your awnser.

The problem has been fixed. I had copied the songs from my OneDrive and I guess those were still linked. The solution was to copy the songs from my backup harddrive.

Thanks for reaching out though.

Hi @Helmi_rat!

If I understood you correctly, the files are missing from your phone's storage as well (and not just the Local Files folder in the app). Does this occur with a few particular files or with all in general?

A cache/storage optimizing app could be deleting the files, so check if you use one and disable it temporarily to see if that does the trick. Another thing you can try is storing the files in another folder.

Cheers!
