Offline Mode Manual Activation

Offline Mode Manual Activation

In my opinion, the whole point of offline songs is that music plays seamlessly regardless of an unstable internet connection. Please either implement features which have Spotify auto-switch to offline music even when wifi is bad, or have an "offline mode" which only plays downloaded files so internet connection won't affect playback.

I'm not sure if this happens just for me, but whenever I'm walking around and I open Spotify in a place with bad wifi, the app just won't play music unless I manually disconnect from the internet and restart the app, which just doesn't seem like the type of error globally used apps should be having in 2024.

Hey there @turtle22879,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community! Hope you don't mind us moving your post as it fits better here.

You should be able to switch on Offline Mode directly through the app settings. For example, if you know you're entering an area with less cellular coverage, you can switch the feature on to listen to your own downloaded playlists or use the Offline Backup list.

Just follow these steps to switch on Offline Mode on your phone:

  1. Tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Settings and privacy.
  3. Tap Playback (iOS) / Data-saving and offline (Android).
  4. Switch Offline on.

Anything you haven’t downloaded will now be grayed out and will remain unavailable until you turn the feature off.

Keep in mind that while Offline Mode doesn't turn on automatically when the connection is poor, it should switch on when it detects that there is no network available at all.

Hope this clears things up! We're just a post away if anything else pops up.
