My Question or Issue

Sometimes when I hit the rewind 15 seconds button it will rewind like 10 minutes on the podcast and it happens relatively often. Maybe once for every 3-4 hits.

why is that?

Hey there @Richlew1s

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you let us know if this happens when you're streaming directly on your phone or when you're streaming via Bluetooth?

Also, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.

Keep us posted.

This is a giant issue for me on 4 platforms.

iOS: 14.6, Web Spotify, MacOs 11.4, Windows 10

Newest version of Spotify App on all.

I think the issue is that Spotify "forgets" where the "current" timestamp is. Sometimes when I hit the rewind 15s button, it goes back 3-4 minutes. If I let it play from there for 3-4 minutes and I hit rewind 15s again, it goes back 3-4 min again.

However, if it goes back 3-4 min and I hit 15s forward button until it gets to where I want, then hit 15s rewind, it only goes back 15s.

This has been a problem for me for over 6 months and I can't believe more people haven't reported it.

Hi there @pocketman78,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

Could you let us know if that happens with any podcast or just with some in particular? We'd also like to know if this happens when using Connect or playing through an external device via Bluetooth or any other type of connection.

Lastly, we'd like to know if the same happens when using different connections (another WiFi network, mobile data, a mobile hotspot, etc.).

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout.

Thanks CarlosE.

It happens all the time (~90%) when listening/watching The Joe Rogan Experience. I think I've noticed it happen when listening to the Sam Harris and the Tim Ferriss podcasts as well, but I'm not 100% sure.

It happens when I hit the button on the application directly, as well as when I use the bluetooth "back" button on my car steering wheel to rewind.

It has happened when I'm using Wi-Fi as well as mobile data. I haven't tried with hotspot.

I only use the "Connect" feature to switch between devices that all have the Spotify app. Never to use any device that doesn't natively have the app. So I'm not sure if that counts as Connect.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi @pocketman78,

Thank you for your swift reply.

We tried replicating the issue with those podcasts but everything is working fine on our end.

Can you log in with another account, such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists?

Also, could you create an internet hotspot with your phone, connect your devices to it and check if the Connect feature works now?

Keep us posted.
