My Question or Issue

For some reason unable to send Spotify to echo dot, requiring premium.  I have always been able to send per Bluetooth, music from Spotify app to echo dot speakers… now I can’t, stating premium is required.

Hi @Muzikfy,

Thanks for reaching out. Using Spotify on Amazon Alexa devices does indeed require Premium as you can see here, however if you just connect one of these speakers to your phone via Bluetooth to use as an output device, this shouldn't be an issue. Make sure the way you are connecting to the devices is indeed via Bluetooth, where possible, because if you try to use your account directly on the Echo device then it won't work without Premium.

Hope this clears things up.

Hi Joan,

I have a Denon receiver x2200w which declare Spotify support, but it shows "Premium user only" when I use it with free Spotify account. Both receiver's software/firmware and phone APP are up to date. If you can share any of link which can check any Soptify connect device require/support free account or Premium only will be appreciated.

Welcome to the Spotify Community @Charlie508!

In general, streaming via Spotify Connect is a feature reserved to Premium users, but as a free user you can still use it to control the other devices you're logged in, such as your phone, PC or the Web Player.

Here's an example: you're listening on your PC, but you're also logged in to Spotify on your phone. With Spotify Connect you can change what's playing on your PC directly from your phone as a remote.

You'll find a list of all devices compatible with Spotify Connect here. The ones that require a Premium subscription will have a corresponding tag.

Still, I believe your receiver has Bluetooth, so that should work well too - feel free to use it for the time being.

Cheers 🤘
