Ability to check off certain qualities on radio stations

Thank you for a wonderful service.

The problem I found is with playing my HD collection using installed spotify player - nothing happens?

After choosing the song - player shows that it is playing but nothing happens. When I open folder (using spotify) containing the song (mp3) I can play it using VLC or other player...

Can you advise?

PS. It happens on both desktop and laptop. Xubuntu 14.10 amd64 both computers.
