Songs are skipping in the web player

Songs are skipping in the web player

I am using the Spotify web player in Chrome and songs are constantly skipping - I'll get a second of a song, then it'll skip to the next song. I have tried clearing the cache and using an incognito window. I am on a computer administered by my work so I can't download the app. If this can't be resolved I'm going to have to cancel my subscription, as it renders Spotify absolutely unusable.

We'd recommend that you try to log out > restart your device > log back in to see if that makes any difference for you. 

 

It's also a good idea to check for a pending update on your Chrome browser. Go to the three dot menu > Settings > About Chrome. Chrome will check for updates automatically. If an update is available, it will be downloaded. It's important to relaunch your browser if the update is installed, even better - try restarting your computer. 

 

On another note, it's worth mentioning that if you're using VPN services on your computer - this might interfere with Spotify, especially if they're from a company/organization. VPNs can cause issues such as the one you had experienced. They can mask the real IP address and device that is being used to access your account. Usually a VPN also switches between multiple IPs from different locations.


Spotify does not currently block VPN usage, but we also do not support it and we can't guarantee that the service would work as expected when using one.
 

If that's the case, we suggest to get in touch with the team in charge of your network or IT department to check if there are any restrictions or blocks on their end.

Restarted and checked for updates. Still doesn't work. This used to work on our work VPN so I don't know what's changed.

You guys do know that this, extremely specific issue (skips six songs ahead, plays ten seconds of sound, then stops) has been around for years yes? I don't see this issue with YouTube Music, for instance. Garbage application.

Sorry to hear that you think this way of the Spotify service currently. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee that the service will work with a VPN on a work computer/ network. VPNs and custom networking restrictions often times block or reroute traffic on certain networking ports required by Spotify, so the app doesn't work properly.

 

You can reach out to your IT/ administrator department and check if traffic can be allowed for the Spotify service, so that you can use the web player.

spotify web player keeps pausing after every song and skipping without playing the songs

i also have that problem , just simple direct connection. should be solveable yes?
