Sonos connection

I've used Spotify (Premuium) successfully through Sonos (as well as directly on my computers) for some years. I use an ipod classic as the Sonos controller. Recently, however, I find that I cannot connect to Spotify through the ipod and therefore can't use it on Sonos.  I get this message: "Attempt to connect to Spotify timed out. Please try again. If theproblem persists please contact Spotify." However many times I try again I get the same message. Can anyone advise me what to do to get over this problem?
