Spotify Connect Stopped Working (not specific to Android), was fine last night

Spotify Connect Stopped Working (not specific to Android), was fine last night

Spotify Connect through Wi-Fi has stopped working for me this morning, when it was working fine last night. This is not specific to Android, but I could not find another more accurate category.

I've tried controlling Spotify with Android, PC and Mac, and all hit the same issue. I have tried connecting both to an Audioengine A1-MR speaker and a Denon A/V receiver through Spotify Connect via Wi-Fi. In both cases, I see the device listed on the Spotify app, and it attempts to connect for half a second and then fails and I can only use the current device.

My internet is through AT&T Fiber, and I use their required supplied Gateway.

Bluetooth is not affected... I can connect to a bluetooth speaker fine. Only Wi-Fi's Spotify Connect is affected. Everything was working 10 hours ago.

I have tried restarting my wi-fi router, restarting the speaker, and updating the app on my Android phone, and none of that changes the behavior.

Same issue here. Spotify tries to connect to the device for about half a second, then fails, both on PC and Android.

My device is a Yamaha R-N402D receiver, so it doesn't seem like a problem with only a specific manufacturer.

Same here, Denon AVR X1300W. Tried most troubleshooting things, nothing worked.

Update: now I've found that if the music is playing and then I switch the output, then it works. But if I try to connect while the music is paused, then it fails to connect.

Thanks silverrocket, you are right, music must be playing to switch the output.

Obviously a new 'feature' ... 🙄

Same issue for me. Spotify Connect was working great on my Onkyo TX-NR686 until a couple of days ago. Now the receiver doesn't appear as a Spotify Connect device, only a Chromecast device. Problem is, Chromecast never worked well on this receiver.

I have the same issue - same receiver. It was working and stopped working one random day. Has the speaker started showing up in your Spotify devices again?

Same issue here. I worked yesterday.

If affects only my Yamaha WCX-50. I can connect to everything else than this streamer.

It does not work from either desktop app, web player or Android app.

I can see the WXC-50 in the list and spotify tries to connect but gives up after som 10 seconds.

I can start playing by operating the WXC-50 directly, it plays fine, but I it has no connection to desktop or android so I cannot control it. It I click on the play button on desktop, it starts playing there too, but not from the same time as WXC-50.

My network is fine, I can operate the WXC-50 fine from the net.

spotify has really messed things up her. The problem is clearly in the servers of spotify.

So how do I reset the status of the spotify server?

Why is not spotify responding to this thread?

I see a connection to the size of the playlist that I am currently listening from.

If it does not work to connect to the speaker from a very large playlist, it seem to work from a small playlist or an album.

After that, I can resume playing from the large playlist.

However, I cannot start playing from a large playlist from Android while I am connected to the speaker.... Fortunately, it works from desktop. I have had this problem for many years, but it has been working lately.

Clearly, spotify servers are overloaded. I often lose sync between units.

Any comments from spotify?
