Spotify Connect on Fire TV does not work

Spotify Connect on Fire TV does not work

The newly released app for the Amazon Fire TV does not work for me (and according to Amazon Customer Reviews for many others).

I connected my phone and the Fire TV to the same Wifi, launched the Spotify app on my Nexus 5 and the Connect app on the Fire TV. No matter how often I try, the Fire TV never shows up on the device list on my phone.

Connect works fine in the same network with two mobile devices, so there must be something wrong with the Fire TV app.

i fiudn one site that said you have to be a US resident. Does thta make any sense? I am in The Netherlands, but i really would be weirded out if spotify only let's US IP adresses find the Fire TV using connect...

any of you guys know more?

Sorry,

but this is no solution for a problem with connection. This is installing the latest version.

This what I did and it still doesn't work here. :(((

Hi,

please dont just update to the actual Version.

Open amazon e.g. at your PC and search for Spotify.

Then you should find "Spotify Music" instead of "Spotify Kindle Tablet Edition".

If this does not work just contact Amazon Support here - they definitely can help you if you dont have the same problem, I had:

P.S.: You could just try to use the Spotify App from Amazon App Store on your Nexus - just install the amazon app store therefore.

Here you can find the app-store:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/android/ref=mas_rw_ldg -> English

https://www.amazon.de/gp/mas/get/android/ref=mas_rw_ldg -> German

Hi,

my setup Android 4.0.4 Tablet with spotify app from google play store, Android 4.4.4 phone with newly installed spotify from amazon and fire tv with spotify connect from amazon. No connection between tablet/phone and fire tv. Connection possible between tablet and phone...

Tried Allcast and firecast to send video from tablet to fire tv. No automatic connection possible. In firecast you can set up the ip of the fire tv manually and that works. No such possibility in allcast and spotify :(((

Not sure if it is a problem with spotify or my network/router.

Just been contacted by Amazon who suggested reinstalling the app which did not work, seems that they are at a loss as to why we are having problems and has asked to keep them informed. Let's hope these two companies can get together and sort it out soon.

I'm in the USA and got a Fire TV Stick yesterday. Installed the Spotify Connect app but could not get it to work (iPad never listed the Fire TV as a device it could use). I emailed Spotify and they said:

"Unfortunately we don't support Fire TV's in your country yet, we're always looking to bring Spotify to new hardware and devices. But we can’t say at this time when or if any specific releases will be out - we'd hate to let you down with promises we can't stick to!"

Huh?? There app is available to install. What do they mean it doesn't work in the USA?!

Hi @sott3 , I've moved your post to the Help section, where it can be seen by others trying to troubleshoot the same issue.

I have a Fire TV (not the stick) in the US and it does work - I believe the customer representative is referring to the fact that Fire TV support has not fully rolled out yet. I'll try to find out more, but I do believe Connect should be working.

Hi, I just got the Fire TV installed 2 days ago & have tried to connect from both my Android Phone & iPad but neither recognizes the tv. Any suggestions as to how you set yours up or did it work straight out for you? BTW, All of my devices are on the same network... Thanks in advance for any advice.

I got it working tonight. I unplugged the Fire Stick from the HDMI port and disconnected the power cable. Plugged everything back in and, to my surprise, was able to use Spotfiy Connect. The Fire showed up as a device in Spotify on my iPad.

Unfortunately that didn't work for me with my Note 3 and my Fire TV...

UPDATE

I couldn't get my Spotify Premium to work on my Amazon Fire TV (I have the Fire TV BOX not the STICK). Thanks to a home link device it now does! After not having any luck with tech support I dug around the internet & saw someone said they had luck when the plugged the Fire TV box directly into their router. Some kind soul said you didn't have to have a 50 ft cat e cable but could use a Home Link adapter. I had no idea what that was & looked into it. Then went on Amazon & bought the starter kit (Link Below)

http://amzn.com/B00AWRUICG

Just got done plugging both of the adapters in. Adapter #1 was plugged directly into the wall & connected to the router with the Cat E cable & the other Cat E cable went from Adapter #2 into the Amazon Fire TV box. Didn't have to pair them, my Spotify app on my Droid was then able to see the Fire TV Spotify app & I was able to play Spotify thru my tv & its attached Sound system.

They say that you pretty much have to plug the adapters directly into the wall socket as some power strips filter out the signal which defeats the purpose of the device. Although I didn't want to buy another device, it was a quick solution than wasting anymore time trying to troubleshoot the problem. I'm also hoping that this will have the added benefit of helping our wireless signal reach to the areas of our house that had a weaker signal.

I don't think this will work for the Fire STICK just the Fire TV BOX

It is great that this worked for you, but I see no point on Spotify promoting a technology that forces the consumer to buy yet another dongle.
I am having the same problem as many on the FireTV that is not plugged to a router, a FireTV that is in a different bedroom than the router, and therefore it is intended to work wirelessly.

I had the same problem today with firebox. I have a guest wireless and a primary wireless. both devices are on the guest wireless and then I realized I had enabled lan separation which is a security measure. put the phone and the firebox on regular wireless connection without that enabled and worked perfectly. hope that helps somebody

Ugh! I'm in the U.S., been trying for over 2 hours to get Spotify (from my Samsung Galaxy Note 4) to play with my fire t.v. Read through many troubleshooting posts, cleared cache, uninstalled, re-installed, confirmed connection, yada, yada, yada. Still won't work.
Finally connected. But NOT from my phone. Last ditch effort I tried my iPad and voila SUCCESS!
I'm definitely not a techy, but in my opinion Spotify and or Amazon Fire TV is/are not compatible with Android devices.

My issue is not that it doesn't work, but that I am unable to stream local files to the Amazon TV Stick app. When I click on a local file it just will not play. All others play fine.

Unfortunately, due to the way Spotify Connect functions, local files cannot be played back on any system using Connect. You might be interested in supporting this idea, which requests the ability to do so.

This app is buggy as hell. Simply does not work. Everything else on the fire TV works fine. Everything on my chromecast works fine. You guys should be ashamed as software devs to put something out that is so flaky. I know I would be.
