Spotify Using High Amounts of Data on Downloaded Content

When away from home or trusted wifi, I ONLY stream downloaded content. This month, I have received 2 separate notifications from my mobile service provider that I have gone over my data, which never happens. I checked the data usage on my phone and Spotify is using absurd amounts of data even though I only stream downloaded content. I am now being charged by Verizon for going over on my data twice in one billing cycle. Why is Spotify using data on downloaded content?

 

I have "Download via Cellular" turned off. I have cellular streaming quality to "Very Low". I also have video podcasts turned off when streaming and downloading.

$30 in overage charges and no response from Spotify.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We'd like to have a closer look into this.

 

Can you head to Settings> Playback and then activate Offline to see if the issue persists?

 

We also suggest that you head over to this article and follow the steps that's provided in it to see if it makes any difference.

 

On another note, a clean reinstall can sometimes help as this will make sure there's no old cache files that might be causing this.

I am having the exact same issue in Germany.

Download through cellular data is deactivated, yet I could see the notification on the bar that the songs were downloading, when I wasn't anywhere nearby my wifi networks.

My data consumption of Spotify is in the last 2 months 3 times higher than usual
