I really would like to get spotify unblocked at work and I think they would unblock it (Pandora, Google Play Music, RDIO all work). However, I don't know what server is being blocked so I can request that it be unblocked.
I've attempted to use developer tools in firefox and internet explorer to find the connection that is being blocked, but haven't found it.
The webplayer just spins and spins and says "Can't connect to Spotify. Trying again now...." with a spinning icon.
Any ideas?
Hello @Austin141,
Can you confirm the country you reside in?
For EU:
193.235.232.0/22 - Spotify UK
194.132.168.0/21 - Spotify Sweeden
IP range | Subnet Mask |
193.235.232.0 - 193.235.235.255 | 255.255.252.0 |
194.132.168.0 - 194.132.175.255 | 255.255.248.0 |
Here is some more data that came up when I ran developer tools in IE 11:
I'm pretty sure my company blocks all port 443 requests, so it would need to degrade down to port 80
File: play.spotify.com
SCRIPT5022: InvalidStateError
File: portdetect.js, Line: 66, Column: 5
SEC7118: XMLHttpRequest for https://apresolve.spotify.com/?client=24:0:0:62400004 required Cross Origin Resource Sharing (CORS).
File: play.spotify.com
Connecting to wss://ash1-linkap-a1.ap.spotify.com:443
I also found that this URL is being blocked. Would it cause the player to totally fail?
root domain is blocked for rubiconproject.com
Sorry fo the delay. It doesn't email me when someone replies and I wait until I get sad that spotify doesn't work to remember to come check.
With HTTP=1 it does the same thing. It just says "Can't connect to Spotify. Trying again now..."
I tried refreshing in Firefox with Network Inspector turned on. It seems to die at this url:
https://ash1-linkap-a3.ap.spotify.com
As far as I remember, their web player uses some unusual ports for streaming, so you might ask your network admin to not block these ports. Another option to check is if https://player.spotify.com works for you.
