Spotify dies in Volvo EX30

Spotify dies in Volvo EX30

WhatsApp Image 2024-08-19 at 21.22.33_4e825ea3.jpg

When trying to use Spotify in Volvo ex30, it often shows "loading content" and then just dies with "Something went wrong" - no way to reset it but either reset the display unit or wait (haven't noticed any pattern, may take 20 minutes or 2 hours) until it starts responding.

I think it is related somehow to internet connectivity, so when connectivity goes out or not yet connected and I try to start Spotify, it gets stuck.

Please fix this.

(Posting this in Android since in Volvo it is an Android based OS).

Additional information - the car uses an original dongle which only activates when I enter the car (hence the delay of connection to the internet - it needs to connect to the cellular network as well as have the car to connect to the wifi hotspot - this is done automatically but far from a smooth process).

In any case, I found a weird temp solution - when the app gets stuck with the above error msg, I go to the spotify settings and hit 'Logout' - this doesn't actually do a logout during this state but after about 15-20 seconds spotify resumes working normally without restarting the app.

Hey @JustAUser2024,

Thanks for reaching out.

This seems to be a technical issue on Volvo's side, and because of that, it's best to contact them directly at https://www.volvocars.com/intl/v/legal/contact-us/ 🙂

You can also check out this thread as it might contain a workaround for the issue you're experiencing.

I hope this helps!

Hi Maxim, thanks for the reply.

May I know how did you conclude this is Volvo's fault? Is this an educated guess? Or fact? If it's the first, then I think it should be checked by Spotify developers to determine the cause.

I did report this to Volvo as well, however posting the above just in case this can be fixed by Spotify.

Hey @JustAUser2024,

Thanks for getting back.

I've checked this with Spotify directly and if you have any issues related to your account, billing or published content, then reaching out to Spotify is definitely the right thing to do. Obviously this also applies to cases where you're experiencing issues with the Web Player, Desktop app, iOS app, etc.

Anything technical related to the integrated in-car app, is handled by Volvo directly.

I hope this clears things up!
