Hey there @Godzilla85,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
Just to confirm, does it work as expected if you disconnect the receiver? Also, does this persists while using a different internet connection?
On another note, we suggest that you check if the firmware of your receiver is up to date.
Additionally, we'd like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update.
Keep us posted.
I also have this issue running xbox one app through a 5.1 system. Issue is on both HDMI and optical outputs. I never had this issue before so suspect it could have come with a recent update.
Hey @Neogreg12,
Thank you for your reply in this thread.
Can you let us know If you've tried what @Eni suggested earlier?
It'd also be a good idea to test if the issue occurs when you're using different account. If a friend or a family member has a Spotify account it'd be nice if they can log in on your device and see if they'll also experience this.
Let us know how it goes.
Noticed today I am having the same issue. But not only my subwoofer, my center channel speaker has no audio either. This issue only exists with the Spotify app.
I have a 5.1 setup with a Denon receiver. Xbox Series X.
Only thing I can think of is an update to the Xbox Spotify app messed something up
Hey @ryrym897,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
To continue investigating this issue, would you mind confirming if using a different Wi-Fi network makes any difference? If you don't have a different network available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.
It would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your Xbox - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.
We'll be on the lookout.
Same issue for me. What gives. ?
As I work in IT I know the value of standard troubleshooting so I’ll follow along 🙂
I used my hotspot, no difference
Then used a different Spotify account, no difference
Then used a different Spotify account on the hotspot, no difference
Hey there folks,
Thank you for your replies in this thread!
Can you let us know if this issue occurred after a specific update of either Xbox or the Spotify app?
It'd also be great if you could share with us the exact Spotify version you're currently running along with your Xbox version. This will help us investigate further.
We'll be keeping an eye out for your replies.
I have exactly the same problem. Used to play 5.1 and now is is only L and R that is playing. Hope they can find the problem soon because the sound is terrible
Unfortunately I do not know when the issue began, been traveling a lot for work! Must have been within the past 2 months I’d think
Spotify: 2.26.35.70
Xbox Series X:
10.0.22621.2488
Thanks everyone for sharing your feedback on our Community.
We can confirm that for the time being, this is expected behavior. After recent changes introduced by an Xbox system update which was causing issues that various users have reported, the latest update of the Spotify app outputs stereo audio only.
We’re working on implementing a better solution for surround sound systems in the future. In the meantime feel free to add your votes to the ideas below to show your support:
Hope this sheds some light on the situation.
Poor expected behavior. Was great before so please restore the previous functionality. Thanks.
Popping back in to say this is still an issue with awful sound quality using a surround sound system on Xbox with the Spotify app
