My Question or Issue
I posted a similar issue a few months ago where Spotify would freeze entirely instead of skipping over select songs. Now, I am finding the songs do not cause Spotify to freeze (I guess that's an improvement...), but instead they're skipped outright. This has been happening more and more frequently lately. I used to very seldom see the issue, but now in the last 24hr it happened with 3 tracks. They were "sometime before midnight" by Airborne Toxic Event, "Your Guardian Angel" by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus" and "Strange Clouds" by B.o.b and Lil Wayne.
Please find attached a video of the behavior. Note, this behavior seems specific to the Tesla Spotify, as songs do play on the Apple products (MacBook and iPhone).
Mods, please move this to the Tesla section of the forums if need be
Hey @appledude9,
Thanks for the post and the video.
Can you just clarify if you're connecting your phone to the car or playing music straight from the onboard system?
Also it'd be great if you can share the links/ URI to the songs in question 🙂
Cheers.
Hi Alex,
I am playing directly from the onboard UI, not controlling from my phone or streaming from the phone to the car via Bluetooth.
The links for some of the tracks are:

Hi there @appledude9,
Thanks for the info and the tracks.
In order to narrow what might be causing this issue can you the following:
- Reinstall the Spotify app on the onboard system.
- If that does not help, try logging in with a different account for a day or two to check if this is happening there as well.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
Hi Alex,
Since the Spotify 'applet' is built into the car's OS, the only thing I can do is reboot the vehicle, unfortunately. The issue seems to be not just my account but others' as well, based on threads I found with the same issue. Of course, as these other accounts weren't tested in my vehicle I can't say for certain. It is likely an issue with the Tesla Spotify 'app'. I have tried to reach out to Tesla but I'm not sure how fruitful that was.... I will continue to nag them in hopes they realize the issue. If Spotify has an avenue to reach out directly to the software engineers at Tesla that would be much appreciated.

Hi @appledude9,
Thanks for sending over all the info and for the research you've done on your end!
We've passed your details to the right folks, but can't promise if or when your specific request will be resolved. We recommend keeping your Spotify app up-to-date to guarantee you get the latest features and fixes.
Take care 🙂
Just wanted to share another video and update. Today in two Spotify-generated playlists two podcast-like tracks refused to play. Please see the example video where podcast tracks are being skipped over. I have also emailed this video to Tesla.
As detailed before in the thread, I tried to play the song on my iPhone instead and control the Tesla screen that way. The issue still occurred, such that the tracks skip. It seems any track/playlist is vulnerable to this bug and I hope it gets fixed. Over 90% of my listening time with Spotify is in my car, and the Tesla only lets you use Spotify if you have Premium. If I continue to be unable to play tracks in the car, I'll unfortunately go back to the included Slacker subscription that comes complimentary with all Teslas. I prefer Spotify and hope this can be fixed.
Thanks for keeping us up to speed @appledude9!
We really appreciate the effort you put into reporting this issue. There's another thread here where we keep everyone updated. It'd be great if you could head over there, so we have all the info in one place.
Cheers!
