Spotify starts songs in the middle or end

Spotify starts songs in the middle or end

I've already turned automix off and so is crossfade. This issue is when a song ends, the next song suddenly starts at some random point usually past the middle. This issue has been happening to me a lot recently, regardless of what playlist. I have premium.

Hey there @Sentimentalmurder

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community!

Just to confirm, does this happen across devices or only on a specific one? We'd also like to know if this only happens on Spotify-created playlists or with your own playlists as well.

On another note, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of this behavior happening so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.

Keep us posted.

I am having this behaviour on desktop. The DJ started my song about a minute in. I'll a screen recording as soon as I can capture the behaviour. It is intermittent, once every 20-30 songs or so I'd estimate.

Hey @Hulujoe,

Thanks for posting here and welcome.

This is odd behavior indeed. We recommend, if you haven't yet, to perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your computer. By doing that the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, then we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The make/model and OS of your computer.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • Does this happen when using the web player or other devices?
  • Does this happen when playing other playlists or just when you're using the DJ feature?

Keep us in the loop!
