Spotify won’t play with the Bose SoundTouch app

Spotify won’t play with the Bose SoundTouch app

Hi everyone. Always play Spotify through the Bose SoundTouch app which plays music through the built in speakers. When trying to do this Spotify just comes up with a blank blue screen. Trying rebooting speakers, apps, internet etc. Can play Amazon music through the SoundTouch speakers fine. Thanks in advance 😊

Hey there @1147388234,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We moved your post from the Idea Exchange to the help boards where it better fits.

Have you tried removing and re-adding Spotify on your Bose account? You can also try reinstalling the SoundTouch app to see if that makes any difference.

Keep us posted.

Hi Novy, I’ve tried both of those several times and hoped it would be that but still no further forward. If you think of anything else let me know! Thanks Julie

Hey there @1147388234

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you check if the firmware of your speakers has any pending updates?

You mentioned that you checked your network already, but would you mind giving a different internet connection a go to see if the same happens? If you've been using WIF, you can try with mobile data or vice versa.

Let us know how it goes.

My Question or Issue

I'm using Spotify on a Mac with the latest version of macOS. I have a Bose SoundTouch 30 smart speaker that used to always connect to Spotify, but it's no longer available. Any ideas how to get Spotify playing on that speaker again? Thanks.

I cannot install the Bose SoundTouch app in Sequoia. Apparently, it can't tell that it's not malware.

Hey @hgetson,

Thanks for joining the thread!

It's great that you're on the newest macOS version, but just to be on the safe side make sure that you're also using the latest Spotify version on your MacBook.

If you've been streaming to the speaker via the Connect feature until now, but you stopped seeing the device in the Connect picker on Spotify, it's worth taking a look under Don't see your device/Connect not working in this help article.

On another note, as far as I checked you should also be able to pair the speaker to the Mac via Bluetooth. Could you give this a try instead?

If you're having issues with Bose SoundTouch's app itself, it'd be best to reach out to Bose for further assistance with this.

Keep us posted 🙂
