Spotify wont stop playing, what to do?.

Solved!

Spotify wont stop playing, what to do?.

Hi,

I started Spotify on my Mac, playing on all speakers in the appt. However, when I wanted to stop the music in my Mac ánd in my iphone, it didn't stop when I hit the button in the app (double thingies). The button changed to the triangle. The music didn't stop. On both my Mac and my iphone I can see which number is playing. It won't stop.

So, I stopped Spotify; the music still played. Then I restarted my Mac. The music still did play. So, I restarted my Iphone, just in case. The music still played.

How can I stop the music??? I mean, has Spotify started its own life?

Spotify version: the web one on my iMac (27 inch, 2020, Sequioa 15,2). On my iphone 14Pro it is the latest (I can't find it, it updates automatically). My Mac and iphone are both up2date.

Thanks

Hey @Theodam,

This sounds like an odd issue indeed!

Does it keep occurring? If so, does it happen with any song and does it happen all the time or only under specific circumstances?
My guess is that the playback may have been started on the speakers themselves and not via the app. Or something may have gone wrong with the speaker setup instead, causing the song to unlink from the main device you've started the playback from.

As a starting troubleshooting step, I'd restart all speakers and maybe even give the internet router a restart as well. Wait a minute before turning it back on. I'd also remove your browser's more recent cache & cookies and remove the cached data on the iPhone app as well.

Keep us posted! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

P.S. In case the issue remains, we'd also like to know what your speaker setup consists of. Many thanks!

Hi,

First time I am not able to stop the music, even with iMac and iphone out. It is beyond me how software could play independent on speakers without their own chip. In the end I did stop my router and the music finally stopped. Still, this shouldnt be able to happen. When I started my iphone, I could see what was playing, I just couldnt stop it. You know, this is an app. How can ot continue without direction? Txs for your reply. How to prevent this from happening again?
