The Rate at Which a Song is Chosen at Random

The Rate at Which a Song is Chosen at Random

So as someone who regularly plays from a playlist of 650+ I've noticed that there are some songs that play a lot more, in fact almost always play when a hit the "shuffle" button for the first time. I find this really strange because there are a few songs from my playlist that I actually never hear due to this. Is there some sort of percentage chance at a which a song can play that is regularly updated based on a songs age and popularity? I've noticed this for a while now but after a song plays a lot of times I have to speak up.

Hey @CoreySalt

Spotify just tweaked the shuffle algorithm about a month ago, it should be much better now.

The new algorithm also works between sessions and keeps better track of the songs played and lowers them to the bottom of the queue from what I understand.

I'm not sure about how random it is though. I don't work at Spotify, just a contributor here helping out.
