Unable to load artist or album info

Unable to load artist or album info

Since the latest Spotify client update I have been unable to load any album or artist. Playback works fine and I can view playlists too but if I try to view an album or artist I get "oops, something went wrong" message.

Been like this for about 2 weeks so I thought I'd report it now.

The same to me on Windows 10. I performed a clean reinstall but it did not help.

Hi there @Miltage and @marianzigo,

Thank you for your posts in the Community.

In this case we suggest that you try with a different internet connection to see if the issue persist.

Also, can you remove all lines of your hosts file by following these steps:

  1. Open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator)
  2. go to File - Open and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  3. Choose "All Files" instead of "Text Documents" next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open
  4. When the file is open, you will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like 0.0.0.0 website.com127.0.0.1 website2.com
  5. Check for any entries with Spotify in the address. Examples may look like: 0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com0.0.0.0
  6. If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them
  7. Save your changes and restart Spotify

@Miltage - we also suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app. This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Keep us posted 🙂

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply Jeremy. Turns out my computer was more than a year behind on updates. After upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 I managed to uninstall and re-install the app and now everything is working correctly again!

Hey @Miltage,

Thanks for keeping us posted.

We're glad to hear that it was sorted out! It's always a good idea to keep both the operative system and the app updated so they run at an optimal performance.

If you have any questions or need a hand with anything else, we'll be right here.

Have a good one 🙂

Hi @Jeremy

With different internet connection everthing works. I am using an office-laptop where I do not have an admin rights. I will ask admin to do everthing according to your advice.

Thank you
