Video podcasts not playing video

Video not playing on Android, browser(chrome) and MacOS desktop app.
I saw a hint on Android that it wasn't playing because of data saver mode. However I'm hooked up to wifi across all devices. I checked my settings, and the data saver for video isn't even turned on. (Stream audio only setting)
Seems like a cross functional bug where spotify has the data saver (audio only field) set to true.

Also on desktop, the video box is showing up in the bottom right hand corner but it's black.  The hide video button is also available, but it's set to show

Can you let us know if this is happening on all episodes of the podcast or just the most recent one? Is it happening with other video podcasts?

Podcast video is not playing in any device; smart tv, iPhone or web broweser on laptop. I've tried multiple podcasts with the same result. The sound plays, but no picture.

This is happening for me as well. 
No videos are found on “the always sunny podcast”. I checked episodes that i know had videos, that I watched, but they are all missing. Even on new ones. 
it also removed a lot of the “played” episodes.

This is happening for me as well. The most recent Spotify update broke the ability to view video podcasts. Whether on my computer or my smart TV, the videos have all disappeared (for multiple video podcasts) and there is no UI control to hide or show the video. We are eagerly awaiting a fix from the Spotify devs.

It's fixed now. But it was all video podcasts. Not just this podcast.

I cant watch "call her daddy videos" on my LG TV anymore.  I was previously. I have removed everything from everywhere & reset everything from eveywhere & restarted everything from everywhere for hours. Still as soon as i hit Video & chromecast it says and goes to a black screen and nothing but audio. the 1 night i had off in a month & this happens??!?!???!

My Question or Issue

JRE podcast does not cast video to TV via Chromecast device. This happens on my Samsung A51 too.  I cleared data cache on both and even uninstalled & reinstalled twice on both devices. Audio only.

Video plays just fine on the phones and laptop, just not via Chromecast.

Hello jazzaphe,

Ensure that your Chromecast device is compatible with video casting. Some older models may not support video casting and can only cast audio. You can check the Chromecast device specifications or consult the manufacturer's documentation for more information.

I was able to cast video two days ago without any issues.

Over the last few days spotify has stopped playing video to chromecast. The audio plays fine, the track controls show up for a few seconds after starting, but the video does not play. I've tried casting to three different devices - all with these same symptoms. The tracks I am trying DO have a video component i.e Rogan, Fridman. The tracks play fine when viewing the app directly. (Also I can cast OTHER video to chromecast - eg webpages etc from other applications)

I've been experiencing the exact same problem as of the past few days and have seen other reports of it on the forum. When Chromecasting a video podcast, the screen remains black while the audio plays. The video plays fine in the web browser.

I'm guessing this is probably due to a bug that was introduced within the past few days.

I'm having the same issue with the Spotify App on my Roku TV. The podcast will play, but instead of video I only get the thumbnail and audio. If I watch the episode on my smart phone, then I can see the video. I watch the Distractable Podcast and was able to watch with video when they first started having it. However the last few weeks there has been no video weather watching through the TV app itself, or casting from my phone.

Same issue for me. Very frustrating. Can watch it on my phone or computer but to my roku or chrome cast it is just black screen with the timeline. both previously casted video
