My Question or Issue

There are certain podcasts that will not play in my Spotify webplayer. "The Daily" worked for a while then quit working a few weeks ago. WHen I try to play the latest episode now, it acts like it's buffering then skips to the oldest unplayed episode, then repeats for 3 or 4 episodes, skipping each, until it just stops. IT started with The Daily but several more podcasts have started doign the same thing recently.  Clearing my browser cache and logging out and back in again didn't help. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? The podcasts that work work fine...

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out about this. 

 

Would you mind letting us know if this is only happening on the web player or on the desktop app too? We suggest that you try it on a different device too to check if they play fine there. 

 

On another note, could you try using a different internet connection for example creating a hot spot on your phone and using that?

I'm at work. I tried it on my home computer and I was able to play the
podcast from the web player and the desktop client there. I'm not able to
install it on my work computer, against the rules. I'll try to play it from
the web player on my work computer when I'm at home and see what happens.

Question for you: do you guys cache these podcasts on a Spotify server and
stream from to our players from there or do you just point your player at a
link to the main repository for the podcast? If it's that latter, that
might explain my problem, some firewall or whatever blocking the feed from
work.

Thanks for the clarification and for the info you sent!

 

Spotify music and podcasts work the same way through our streaming service, so it's possible that the firewall on your work computer is preventing the app from working at its 100%.

 

In this case, we'd suggest contacting the administrator for further info.
