Windows Phone 8.1 Spotify App - thoughts, comments, issues, peeves

Windows Phone 8.1 Spotify App - thoughts, comments, issues, peeves

Although I'm really satisfied with the new app from Spotify for WP 8.1. There are feature that are missing when compared to Android counterpart.

Pros

+ Similar to iPad,Android apps.

+ Friends section and suggestion for following

Cons

- "Your Music" section is missing and replaced with playlist section.

- No crossfade/gapless playback

- No spotify connect option to remotely control other open instances of spotify

Feel free to comment on some ideas and wishes you have to improve the app. (Hopefully spotify will hear our pleas) 🙂

I have the new spotify Windows Phone App installed - and cannot work out how to shuffle one  of my playlists - any idea?

Shuffle option should be on the now playing screen.

Offline playlist doesn't work on Nokia Lumia 520, I've got premium so what's wrong? It's loading the list over and over again.

Anyone else who have the same problem?

I have 8.1 installed on the phone.

Spotify doesn't work with offline mode correctly if you are storing data on your SD card. Save on internal memory and it should work for the time being.

Ok thanks for the quick answer 🙂

When is it going to work then? I mean the internal memory isn't that big.

To shuffle the list per se isn't possible as far as I can tell. But you can shuffle your play queue when playing by going to the "now playing" screen with artist and controls and there you will see the shuffle sign (on the bottom left) to shuffle your songs while playing.

Where is the connect function to enable playing to   DLNA devices  (speakers and amps) that is already present on android and IOS!

I'm not really familiar with DLNA devices but I helped a friend connect to a Denon Amp once and I'm pretty sure that if you have a spotify compatible receiver/amp you would need to download an app from the manufacturer (ie. Yamaha,Denon). That's the easy part.

Once installing the app you will need to create a new password/username for your account that is applicable for that device. Really confusing. I spent the better part of the hour looking through the forums why my spotify/facebook login wouldn't connect.

Hope it helps.

RE: playlist not loading offline when stored on SD

oh man... I guess it's because 8.1 hasn't been released officially yet?

i do not have a problem connecting yamaha to spotify but connecting the spotify app running on nokia lumia 920 windows phone 8.1 by wifi to a dlna renderer (eg. speaker or avr) device as in this spotify video of android app   http://news.spotify.com/us/connect

the wp 8 app is not comparable to ios android version and poor service from spotify as there are other apps that can do this from my phone and from my server controlled by the phone

Paying for spotify premium in windows phone 8.1, and can´t sync offline playlists in sd?

Sure you are losing a premium member if solution doesn´t arrive soon.

In Lumia 620 there are only 8gb internal memory, full of apps and firmware and other things, and external 32gb is plenty of space, but I can´t sync my playlist there... and I have to sync only 2 or 3 small playlists in internal memory to stay with memory for other apps...

I don´t like it... we are paying...

@musabasjo - You are correct, unfortunately Spotify Connect is only currently supported on iOS and android, hopefully it will be added in the future.

@user-removed - Not yet, as far as I know SD card storage for apps was only added in WP 8.1 which is not yet publicly released.

I like the new app overall, but I cannot understand why they left the ability to Star tracks IN the app and didn't put support for Saved Music. Now when I'm using the desktop app and I save albums, I can not get them on my app, so I still have to creat playlists for each album to "Save" them. Pretty lame.

With the Lumia 630 out in several Countries, Windows Phone 8.1 is officially released.

With the lacking section for "Your Music" and the bad support for SD-Offline-Playback, Spotify for WP 8.1 is pretty useless for my purpose, definitely not worth 10 Euro per month.

Overall the app seems to be quite good, but the problems in core functionality makes it hard for me to be a satisfied user. I'm not sure, Spotify will adress these problems soon, when I look at the support for WP in the past.

cant connect on windows phone app. it says i need a premium account. But works with free account on android

They need to update this app ASAP

It has been released!! Lumia 630 has been released in certain countries and it has 8.1.

I really like the 'Your Music' implementation on the desktop.  it's frustrating though, that the 'starred' playlist is being deprecated before 'Your Music' is supported on Windows Phone.

I have a Nokia 630 with Windows Phone 8.1 on my table, unoponed waiting for my birthday... or to be returned. You REALLY NEED TO FIX the offline storage on the SD. Its nonsense such a feature not to be working. Keep in mind that we are paying! If your support keeps beeing so pathetic I will certainly unuscribe from you service. You can't simply ignore so many of your clients.

Same here, I can't save offline playlists on my SD card on WP8.1. App installed on SD card seems doesn't work. Offline sync not working. Neither app installed on internal memory doesn't have that feature - it saves songs only internal. Ridiculous.

Also we need same feature like on Android such as "Your Music" in menu, with separated pages "Playlists" "Albums" "Authors" "Songs" etc.
