My Question or Issue
Trying to play a kids audio book again. It appears that when a chapter (eg chapter 3) ends and it moves onto the next chapter (eg chapter 4), a few seconds of the finished chapter are left unplayed. When I come to Replay the book, chapter 3 starts at those last few seconds, and either doesn't play anything, or finishes the chapter and the freezes, and doesn't move onto chapter 4. This is all chapters, not specifically chapter 3, 4. I can drag the play bar back to the start, but that seems too confuse the system as sometimes this them starts playing the next chapter instead.
Hey @Bingamin,
Thanks for reaching out.
Does this happen on both the iPhone and the iPad? If yes, please share their exact OS version and Spotify versions. If not, let us know on which one and consider reinstalling the app there.
Keep us posted.
I get this too. I'm on the desktop app in Windows 10 on a PC - Spotify version 1.2.36.959.g04bf500c
Sometimes playback moves to the next track before the current one is done. I'm listening to James right now and it just did it a couple of times. See the screenshot.
I listened to Happiness Falls last month and in addition to this problem, the tracks were shuffling, despite there not being a shuffle option! (And why would you want to listen to a book shuffled??)
Two requests for enhancement:
1. I wish that the tracks were better aligned with the chapters. It doesn't seem like a 1:1 relationship and it's weird to me.
2. You should have a % complete counter for both chapter and book. Many readers track their daily pages and it's not easy with audiobooks, since there's no reference to pages. This is a good way to keep track.
Check this out! I listened to Track 13, 14, and 15, and now it's playing Track 11 again.
I don't actually think the tracks are cutting off early, but the time trackers are all messed up. Please investigate.
Hey there @princessfab,
Thanks for reaching out!
Just to confirm, did you notice that tracks cut off early on other books as well? Does it just occur with this particular book?
Also, does this only happen on the desktop app? Or are you experiencing similar behavior on other devices that you use Spotify on?
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Hi @princessfab,
Thanks for the reply.
To make sure we've covered our basics, please try performing a full clean reinstall as shown here. If the issue persists, please try and make a screen recording of the exact behaviour and send it to us. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.
Let us know how it goes.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
