music stops playing 7-9 seconds after it starts and i have to close Spotify

The song starts and after 7-13 seconds it stops playing and i have to close Spotify so it can play but the next song the same thing happens. Also it only happens in my phone, in other devices it works, but other people tell me that their Spotify does the same only on their phones

Mine has been doing the same thing! I was worried that something was wrong with my phone because Spotify has been fairly reliable in the past. Hopefully this gets fixed ASAP because the app is unusable right now.

Hi folks!

Could you let us know the following:

  • Your device's make, model and OS version.
  • The version of Spotify you're running.
  • The troubleshooting you've tried so far so we avoid repeating the steps.

If possible, try logging in to another device to see if the issue persists there, A short screen recording which shows the app's behavior in action would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and cheers!

Mine is doing the same. I always play with my Bluetooth on and all of a sudden it just stops! I have to start it again. This has only been happening the past month. It just gets annoying to have to keep starting it again but it picks up exactly where it shut down, weird

Hey @SouloRydr13 and @Kplandowski,

Could you provide us with some additional information, so we can narrow down on the things causing the issue? It would be best to start with the information requested from @Yordan's message above.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

My device is an IPhone 12 Pro and I am running iOS 15.3.1

The Spotify version is 8.7.22.1405

I have tried deleting the app and redownloading, disconnecting from Bluetooth and reconnecting, and playing the app off Bluetooth. I have also played music on my iMac using Spotify and it works fine, so it is just an issue with the app on my phone.

Thanks!

Hey @Kplandowski,

Thanks for your reply.

Could you log in with another account on your device and tell us if the issue persists?

Additionally, we suggest that you log out everywhere. You'll find this option by scrolling down here. Once you do this, restart your phone and launch the app again.

Let us know if this makes any difference.

Hi @AndresM,

I tried logging in to a different account and using the app on my phone through Bluetooth like I would normally do, and unfortunately the issue is still happening.

Additionally, I tried your other solutions and they didn’t solve the issue either. Do you have any further suggestions? I drive quite a bit and not being able to use Spotify has been putting a damper on my trips.

Thanks,

Kristen

Hey @Kplandowski,

Thanks for your reply in this thread 🙂

Can you access with your account on another mobile device with iOS?  You can ask for the mobile device of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

On another note, do you notice if this is happening over WiFi, 3G/4G or both?

We'll keep an eye on your response!

Hi @CarlosE,

I tried using the app on another iOS device, another iPhone but an older model, and didn’t have an issue.

The problem occurs over both wifi and LTE/4G, specifically when trying to play music through Bluetooth in my vehicle. I tried updating the audio software in my vehicle as well with no improvement.

Thanks,

Kristen

Hey @Kplandowski,

Thanks for the reply.

Could you make sure, that you have the background app refresh turned on for Spotify on your iPhone? Here is how to do that.

It is also important to make sure you've the battery saving mode turned off. More on that here.

Are you able to reproduce the issue when you're connecting to another Bluetooth device and not the one in your car?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!
