My Question or Issue
I'm using Spotify web on my computer, and every time an ad comes up, there is no sound but the progress bar moves. It also shows the error message "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it." I can't play another song or playlist until the ad ends, but even when the progress bar shows it's done playing, it doesn't play the next ad or song. I've tried logging out and back in, restarting my computer, deleting the cookies, and changing the sound settings, but nothing has worked.
Hey @madeleinel,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
Just to make sure, do you have an add blocker installed on your browser? If so, try removing it to see if there is any difference.
Does this happen on the desktop app as well or only on the web player?
Keep us posted.
Cheers!
No, I don't have any ad blockers. The desktop app works fine on my other computer and the app on my phone too. I can't download the app on the computer I'm using the web version on since it's blocked, so I'm not sure if it would work.
Hey @madeleinel,
Thanks for the reply.
In such a case I'd look for the reasons for this behavior in the way the affected PC is blocked. Seems like a setting related issue to me. Contact the administrator of the computer for further info.
Hope this clears things a bit.
Cheers!
It's a school computer, so we aren't allowed to download apps. Spotify web on this computer was working fine until it suddenly couldn't play ads anymore. I'm not sure what caused this since I can't download any ad blockers or browser extensions.
Hey @madeleinel,
Thank you for your message.
In most cases, work or school computers have some stream, download and third party restrictions or limitations programed by the software administrator to avoid any misuse of the device.
In this case, since the app and Web player are working fine on other devices, we'd recommend checking directly with your school to see if they've implemented new restrictions on their software.
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
Got it, thanks!
