spotify on amazon echo stops after a few seconds for all songs

tests: the spotiy account is fine when tested on my PC, so it's not locked or in use elsewhere

the Amazon echo is fine with amazon music library- it only cuts out on spotify

it was working ok last week

wi fi signal strength is good

my account subscription status os good ( family premium )

solution?

the usual " solution" suggested is clear device cache but is that even possible with amazon echo - I have no idea how to do that
