spotify won't remember that i played specific podcast episodes

spotify won't remember that i played specific podcast episodes

When I open up spotify with the windows app, linux app, in my web browser, on an android, wherever, episode 81 of a specific podcast always appears right under the "Good Afternoon/Evening/etc" greeting. I have already listened to episode 81, but it appears Spotify isn't properly remember this.

If I clear Spotify's cache and open the app and open episode 81, it is marked as unplayed, along with episodes 82 and 83. If I mark them as played 81 still remains on the homepage and if I clear the cache again they all go back to being unplayed.

When a new episode of this podcast is released it temporarily replaces episode 81 but when it's done episode 81 returns.

This is really annoying me, how can I fix it?

Hey @rfcrawford18,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

As a next step, can you please try unfollowing the podcast, reinstalling the app as described here and then following it again?

Let us know what happens.

That didn't fix anything. As already stated this affects multiple devices both apps and web browser, so I doubt the issue is with any local installation or cache.

Hey @rfcrawford18,

Thanks for getting back to us!

This seems a bit odd and we haven't received any recent reports about this.

Have you tried recreating this issue with a different account? If a friend or a family member has a Spotify account, we'd recommend to ask them to log in on your device to see if they'll experience the same.

In case the above is not possible, we'd suggest to try creating a new account and test if the app behaves the same way. This will help us understand if the issue is specific to your account.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
