Added family member on Premium Family but she is still on Spotify Free

Solved!

Added family member on Premium Family but she is still on Spotify Free

Hello Spotify Community -

I have Premium Spotify (Android), added my wife (Apple) through the directions (sending invite) to her email address. Yes, we live at the same address.

She went to her email, clicked on the recieve invite, but instead of a redeem code, it took her to the spotify page (she had already logged in minutes earlier) and was asked to fill out a confirmation form. Then, it told her she was added to the Premium Family on both her iPad and iPhone.

When she plays Spotify, it also tells me she is active in my account too.

However, she still gets the commercials. She is still essentially Spotify-free in functionality but it says she is Premium Family in the subscriptions section of her Spotify account.

Going through the help sections, I removed her from the Premium Family account and sent her an invite again - same thing happened.

She also logged into her iTunes before she was added to the Premium Family and it did not list Spotify in the subscriptions. We wanted to rule that out despite knowing she was Spotify-free at the time.

Am I missing something? This is getting old... frustrating. I do not care paying for something that does not work as expected. Worse, it when you follow the directions to the letter, more than once, and the same result happens.

Thank you for your help!!!!

Okay everyone.... I am the post originator..

I found a solution on my own...

Instead of deleting this post, there might be a solution for you for a similar problem..

I realize that my wife and I use Spotify on our smartphones and tablet/iPad and we often just close an app instead of actually logging out and logging back in when making such changes to the account explained in the first/originating post.

So.... yes, it was that simple..

I had her log out and log back in...

And we are using Spotify as intended when purchasing the Premium Family plan...

Thank you... hope this helps someone...

Well the family subscription isn't that cheap. You should make 2 different accounts with the regular premium, it's a little more expensive but you have to live with it. You can contact Spotify here
