Cannot get alexa devices to show in Spotify on any device

Cannot get alexa devices to show in Spotify on any device

Regardless of whatever device I use (Samsung Galaxy phone, ipad, Win10 pc) I simply cannot get to see the Alexa devices in device list to playback on.  I have 2 Google Home in house and I can see and playback on these. Depending on network i choose connect to and which device I use, I can even see the amazon Firestick.

I have:

i) Linked my Spotify to my amazon account via the Alexa-app

ii) Specified Spotify as default music player in Alexa app.

iii) Checked the linked apps in Spotify and Alexa is there along with my Garmin Fitness tracker.

iv) Ensured playback device and Spotify device are on same wifi network

v) Unlinked all accounts and re-linked them

vi) Cleared cache and history to ensure linked accounts connect afresh.

The only thing I am left pondering is that my Spotify .account is 1 of 6 Family Premium accounts and my account is a member but not the admin.  The admin account DOES see the alexa devices but not the Google Homes.  BUT that is a separate Alexa account too so in theory should not be any different to mine s we both effecively have our own alexa and spotify accounts.

Question: Does Family Premium perform differently regards devices for members / admins?

Thanks

Richard

Hey @Pridepark1997,

Thanks for posting here 🙂

It sounds like the account of the manager of the Premium Family is linked to Alexa.

If you want to connect your account to the device, the manager of the subscription needs to first disconnect their account in the Alexa app and log out. Then you can connect your account.

Keep in mind that only one Spotify account can control the music with voice commands within the same Amazon account.

Hope this helps. The Community is here for you if there's anything else!

Hi Ver, thanks for reply but I am dubious on logic since I have my own Alexa account and we have Amazon Household which means I can switch profiles on the Alexa if need be.  Therefor, my Amazon account is linked to the devices and also to my Spotify.  If you were to correct though, logging the Admin account out would simply move the problem onto the admin account which is not desired outcome.  We both want to see Alexa devices in Spotify.

Hey @Pridepark1997,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

In this case we'd suggest you get in touch with Amazon. The folks there can give you more information about how you can switch the accounts and how many accounts can be connected while using Amazon Household.

Hi, thanks for reply it is much appreciated.

I will contact Amazon as every avenue needs exploring.  However, gut feeling tells me this is a Spotify problem.  We can switch profiles on devices (eg lounge and dining room on different amazon profiles) and we can stream different music from our respective accounts.  However, introduce Spotify app or browser program to equation and it cannot find the Alexa devices.  I struggle to see how it would be an Amazon issue as nothing awry on that side of things.

Hi @Pridepark1997,

Thank you for your swift reply.

We do appreciate your comprehension and we'll be here in case Amazon gives you any update or instruction about this.
