Changing the main email

Hi 

I just opened a family Spotify account and now want to change the email to mine instead of my wife's. However, it says there is already an account with this email. How do I change it?

Hi @Andyharris1. If the system is stating that an account already exists with that email, then you will be unable to use it with the current account. Have you previously created an account with that email? If you remember doing so, and remember how to access it, you can go to support.spotify.com/close-account to delete that account and your email should become available again after a short time. If you've forgotten the account's password, you can recover it on this page.

 

If, however, you have no recollection of opening this account, your best bet will be to reach out to support so that they can help resolve the issue. Please fill out the online contact form to create a ticket with Support. If, for whatever reason, you cannot use the form, or would prefer not to, support can also be reached on twitter by reaching out to @SpotifyCares, or on Facebook by sending a message to the Spotify Cares Facebook page.

Please be aware that responses may take anywhere from 24-48 hours depending on the volume of tickets they are currently handling.
