Family Subscription only allows one device to play

Family Subscription only allows one device to play

I have a Premium for Family account but if another member of the family uses it, then my music stops with the message “account being used elsewhere”

everyone is is logged in as separate people on the family account

what is going wrong as I thought we could all listen to different things on our own devices at the same time?

Hey @Clueless73,

It sounds like all family members are trying to use the same Spotify account to listen to music at the same time. To be able to listen to music at the same time, all family members need to have their own Spotify account. If they don't have a Spotify account yet, they can sign up on http://spoti.fi/2e1FH6k.

You can learn how to invite family members to your Premium for Family plan here: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/premium_for_family/premium-for-family/

I think the theory is that we can each play our own thing at the same time
- I just can’t get it to work!

That is correct, but the requirement for it to work as it should is making sure that each family member is logged into their own account, not the same account that everyone else uses.
