Family subscription

I have a family subscription.I invited my wife who made her own account. She wants to listen to her music on her phone, while I listen to my music on my Ipad. This seems impossible. If I put a song on she will hear it on her phone, if she puts a song of her own my Ipad will switch to her song. We have two different accounts, but our appliences can't work indepently. What to do? I mean, what's the point  of having a family subscription with two diferent accounts if have to listen to the same music anyway?
