Hey!

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community.

Have you checked if your subscription is still active? You can navigate to your account and check what you see under Your Plan.

If your subscription is still active, could you share more details on the steps you're following and how you're getting the ads? Please make sure to provide the following details:

  • Account type (Free/Premium)
  • Device and operating system (e.g. MacBook Air, 10.10 OSX)
  • Spotify app version
  • Any screenshots/screen recordings that help explain or illustrate the issue

Looking forward to your answer!

The premium subscription was deducted off my credit card 3 days ago. I have recently changed phones and the app is also on my old phone - do I need to remove it from my old phone?

Im getting adds on my Premium account. Itsd worst when I use sleeping tracks to sleep but I'm awoken by stupid adds. I've been searching spotify and, Like so many of these services, there is absolutely no support! Do I have to cancel to get noticed?

Hey folks!

Thanks for joining the thread 🙂

@vbigfish - Spotify should not play ads that interrupt the music-listening experience so, for starters, I'd check what plan is displayed under the link, provided by @Anyk17. If it says free but you're paying for Premium, you may have a secondary account. To check if that is the case - take a look at this FAQ article over here.

And, @carobuffey - you can be logged into the app on multiple devices 🙂 Having the app on your old phone will not be an issue, just make sure you log out from it (and that you reset the phone in general) in case you decide to give it to somebody else. Aside from that all must be well.

Hope this helps, folks! We're here for you should anything else come up.

Same thing happening to me. I use audiobooks for sleeping but the adds wake me up. I can’t use Spotify anymore for this obviously! I did try to contact support and the answer the (very uninterested representative) gave me was there might be embedded adds in podcasts. So is an audio book a podcast? And, even so what exactly does Spotify mean by add-free?

It does seem Spotify is at the very least very relaxed about ads on an ad-free service. It seems only fair that Spotify gives us their definition of ad-free so we customers can decide. I am getting adds on audiobooks.  Perhaps Spotify classes audiobooks as podcasts? Even so getting an ad in Portuguese about a Brazilian bank on an English language audiobook does strongly suggest Spotify is not being entirely honest with their ad-free claim! Perhaps they are planning to role out a more expensive Super Premium with a Definitely No Ads promise?

Hey @vbigfish

Thanks for getting back to us.

There shouldn't be ads in Audiobooks. In this case, could you send us the Audiobook's URI so we can take a closer look?

We'll be on the lookout.

I'm not sure how I get the URL, but here is a screenshot. If there is
anything else I can do, please let me know.

It is good to know there should not be ads in Audiobooks.

Hi @vbigfish,

Thanks for the reply. It seems, even though this is called an Audiobook Collection, this is very much a podcast and ads are expected to an extent when it comes to podcasts, even for Premium users. Have you gotten ads in any other content? If so, send us the links to those as well so we can investigate.

Hope this clears things up.
