Play music on google home speaker from a different family spotify acct

Play music on google home speaker from a different family spotify acct

We have a google home speaker in my kid's playroom. All our google devices are connected to my (parent) google account because that's necessary for using other google products in our home effectively. However, I'd like that speaker to connect to another one of our spotify family accounts (my kids') rather than mine so i can listen to music elsewhere on my phone/laptop. Can this be done? Or can I listen to one thing on my account in one place and them listen to something else on the same account elsewhere?

Hey @lia_bia,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

One Google account connects to one Spotify account. So you'd need to link an additional Google account in order for this to work. You may find how to do so in this article.

On another note, if you'd like to see the option for multiple streams in a Google smart home available, go ahead and check this idea here. Make sure you leave a +Vote to support it, so that it would have a better chance of being considered, as Spotify always strives to improve your experience.

Please note that even if an idea is currently set to “Case Closed” you can still add your vote there and we revisit those ideas on regular intervals. It might be that their time would be right in the future!

To answer your second question - no, it's also not possible to listen to two different things at the same time under one account.

Hope this clear things up,

Cheers!

Thanks. That's super disappointing. I can't use the voice recognition 2
streams thing which seems to be the only hack to this because my kids are
too little to use the speaker themselves so I always have to tell it
what to play. So by using my voice, it would go to my account and lock me
out other places. Infuriating and makes things not very useful with spotify
at all, which is one of the reasons I GOT the family spotify account.
