Premium for family - option to redeem code not popping up

I have premium for family and have sent my son an email to join. When we click on the green box to join he has to log in to Spotify but then no box to redeem the code pops up.  I have been into the are REDEEM but it does not accept the code there. How do I get my son started on premium for family when the code is not accepted and the redeem page does not pop up automatically when he logs in?
