Temporary move

Solved!

Temporary move

Hello,

My partner and I share a Spotify account at home for our Sonos. I'm moving to another city for work for 4 months. Trying to decide if it makes sense to get Spotify family or should I just get a second account.

I'm concerned Spotify will think we do not reside at the same address if it detects I'm listening for months in another city. But officially my home address will not change, it's just an extended but temporary contract job.

Do you think spotify family will work for us? I've heard they can be cut off if too much listening in different places is detected.

Hey @ccollins0822

It sounds like you both are sharing one Spotify account. Spotify works best when each person has their own account.

The way the family plan works is that there is the plan owner (person who is paying for the family plan) and the plan owner invites other people to join their family plan. So for the family plan each person will need their own Spotify account.

Just to be safe I would recommend not getting the family plan in this case. There are restrictions in place where all members need to live at the same address. There are also detection methods in place and you run the risk of being taken off the plan. If you are interested in the discounted family plan for multiple people you can always sign up for it when you return back home.

In this case if you want premium while away, I recommend to go for the regular individual premium plan.

Hopefully this information helps you out. Have a good trip!
