Tesla - premium account and multiple devices

Tesla - premium account and multiple devices

I've had a basic account till today but every time I've tried to listen to Spotify on my device while somebody else has been driving the car it's not been possible as you can only stream on a single device (i.e. either the car OR the phone) at one time on a basic account. Now I have a premium account which should solve the multiple device issue in general, but I'm not sure how to nominate the Tesla as one of my family account holders. I'm sure this is a simple question, but....?

Hey @Ozwah, welcome to the Community!

Premium for Family is for you and up to 5 additional family members (accounts) who live at the same physical address. That means you can have 6 people in total, all under one, reduced monthly subscription, each enjoying their own Premium account.  We have more info on Premium for Family here: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/subscription_information/premium-for-family/.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I have the same problem and I don't think the answer provided actually addresses the issue! Did you ever solve it? The problem seems to be that inviting a family member involves sending them a link which they then activate.  I have tried this with the Tesla by copying that link into the Tesla browser but it does not work.  Anyone found out how to do this?!

No this does not answer the question - see my email in this thread.

Bingo. No solution as yet. I can't work out how to use Spotify on my device while the same account is being used in the car.

Unfortunately it doesn't help. How can I nominate my tesla as one of the family members? At present, even though I have a premium/family account, whenever somebody turns on spotify in the tesla it cuts out on my phone. If there's no solution we'll just have to go back to apple music on phones I guess...

I agree. I have been round and round with this and found no solution. So I have had to give up and go back to the Spotify account that the car came with - though this is not part of my family account so does not have my Playlists on. BUT it does mean that I can play something on the car without it cutting out on other devices which are also on Spotify!

The solution is

1) make a new spotify account
2) invite it to your family plan
3) log into new spotify account in the car

Just follow all your own playlists on the new account
