my son and I cant use use spotify at same time-we have family plan

I have 5 users on my family plan and anytime my one son uses spoitify it knocks me off and vice versa

It sounds like you are both trying to use the same Spotify account to listen to music at the same time.

To be able to listen to music at the same time, all family members need to be logged into their own Spotify account. I recommend making sure that is the case 🙂
