SheerID confirmed me, but then receive message that "not eligible for this plan" (Student Premium).

SheerID confirmed me, but then receive message that "not eligible for this plan" (Student Premium).

Hi, I just went through the SheerId process, and it confirmed my student status as good. Then I went to change my plan to Student Premium, and it said I was "not eligible for that plan." Do I need to wait a few days for a separate confirmation email with a link? Is that the issue why I can't just change my plant to Student Premium now?  Thanks!

Here is what the issue was: 

First, I was on Family Premium, so I needed to have Spotify Support temporarily downgrade me to a Free plan. Then I was able to change plans to Student Premium. So that was the issue with being shown as validated as a student through SheerID, but not being able to change my plan to Student Premium.

 

For Spotify Support, I finally found the Chat option, and that worked for me. But I had to search high and low to find that chat option. It felt intentionally hidden to me. Anyways, I'm all set now. I hope this helps someone else who finds themselves in a similar situation.

It would be best if you could contact Spotify support team. Since your student discount might've been activated to your other accounts. Best and safest way is that ask directly to Spotify support team so they could check it and help you with the process.

Thank you, but how do I contact the Spotify Support Team? I've been digging everywhere but all of their pages seem to funnel me into this forum for support, and I can't seem to find out how to directly contact Spotify Support.

Before you do that, I'd like to suggest some things to try.

  • When you say SheerID confirmed your status, is this based only on the confirmation email? If you have it, make sure to follow the link inside to actually activate the discount
  • If the above has been resolved, go here to change your plan to Student. If you don't do this, you won't benefit from the discount.
  • If any of the steps are causing issues, try using an incognito window

If you still face issues after this, feel free to reach out to our support team, they can assist you further. Make sure to have all of your payment information on hand, as our team will need it to find the payments and verify you as the account owner.
