Switched phones and now I can`t get a Student discount

Switched phones and now I can`t get a Student discount

My Question or Issue

Hello,

I recently switched phones and I tried getting back into my Spotify profile, however it kept on refusing to let me log in with my details and it kept giving me an error message that the account does not exist. I went on my banking app and it showed that the subscription of my previous account still existed, so I blocked my card for it ( I didn`t want to pay for an account I can`t use).

I made a new account and I managed to get verified, however it proceeded to not allow me to get the discount, because I`ve previously purchased it. How do I fix this, because no matter what I do I can`t get the plan.

Hi @user-removed,

Thanks for reaching out.

In such a situation, it would be more advisable to allow us help you regain access to the old account rather than create a new one, since multiple accounts can lead to many issues. Since you cannot login, it can be assumed that your old subscription is still active and while it is, you cannot start another Student subscription on a different account. This is the most likely reason why your payments are getting declined.

As we here on the Community cannot directly access accounts and make changes to them, we recommend you reach out to our support team so that they can help you regain access to your original account. Perhaps it was associated with an old, possibly defunct email address and that's why you were unable to log in. In that case, it would be best if that can be replaced, perhaps with the address of the new account you made after it's freed up.

Alternatively, if you don't want to use the old account anymore and want to continue on the new one, our team can at least assist you in properly cancelling the old subscription so that you don't get charged twice. If you would like, it may also be possible to transfer the music library and some other data to the new account.

Be advised, when reaching out to our support team, make sure to have all your payment info on hand, as those will be necessary for search and verification.

Hope this clears things up.
