Ads on Premium?

Hi ✌️ I just switched to Premium today because I'm sick of ads interrupting my music. However, I've been listening to music on Premium for about 45 minutes and have already had ads play at two different times. I went into the settings to see if this is something I have to turn off, but I can't locate anything. I will appreciate any tips or suggestions to fix this👍

I started Spotify years and years ago. There were hardly any interruptions and when I opened the app I got to enjoy 30 minutes ad free. i've noticed they have increased their ads even tho listening to 1 or 2 songs. It's much worse now. I'm getting rid of Spotify.

Ads at that time was infrequent. 

Now I barely listen and am going back to my records and CDs due to ads are playing after every som

Especially after tonight. I won't pay for premium anything because it's same old but now you're giving money

Hey @26551742,

It seems like you're most likely having an issue with Spotify Premium. I've only had such an issue once, and mainly, I had to cancel my plan and repurchase the whole membership plan. That seemed to do the trick for me, however, if it still doesn't work you would have to contact Spotify for help here.

Thank you🙂 I fixed it by logging out and back in a few times. It seems there was just a delay in the change to my membership.

Log out and log in always fixes.

The only ad placement on Premium is Announcement at the desktop app Home page. Disable in Settings.

Another ad may come if you listen podcasts, but I do not do them. I devoted my life around hard dance music and listen only.

Free version used to be okeyish, but since ad placements went higher, I collect bottles and tin cans to buy Premium.

Just as we speak I am going for a walk to collect and deposit few, people just throw them at bus stops etc.

My Spotify is paid using 10€/1MO gift cards until 01. January 2026 with cans and bottles I collect for deposit.

There is no point of buying it on Debit card when price is 11,99 there, I save €2 with gift cards a month.

I get basically 2 free months this way 🙂

I haven't experienced advertisements that way, but Spotify sneaks them in, through non-music streaming, as in episodes, like "Merriam-Webster' Word of the Day", which is still irritating and unethical. Spotify can't blame that on anyone, but Spotify, because Spotify should be making sure that the ones posting episodes are abiding by the rules. Advertisements are only supposed to be for the free version, outside and in between tracks, whether that be songs, audiobooks (that free users obviously have to pay for), or episodes.

Spotify, y'all need to fix this, because the company is subjecting us to what we pay to avoid, while likely getting paid for allowing those advertisements to play.

I've been a premium subscriber for years and I've started getting ads that play before podcasts. These are separate injected ads by Spotify as they have their own progress bar. Today I received a 2 minute LOUD unskippable video ad on my phone. This is ridiculous as I'm paying nearly $20 a month to NOT have ads. I confirmed with support that Premium does not cover ad free podcasts. I'll be cancelling my subscription today.
