Can I play a single song?

Often, I want to hear just one song. I want it to play this one song then stop. 

For a while Amazon Music allowed this. Then they said only the paid version. So I paid. Now, they no longer allow it even with the paid version. 

I say to play a song, it plays it, then it starts playing whatever other music it wants. I can't stand that. 

I am considering switching to Spotify but I want to know if I can play just one song and know it will stop rather than playing whatever playlist it feels.

Yes, Spotify has a Repeat One feature, which will loop the one song you're currently playing for as long as you like. If you want to use it on mobile, you'll need Premium.

To enable Repeat One, click on the Repeat button twice, so it shows a little 1.
In this screenshot it's enabled:

And to turn it off, just click on the button one more time. When the Repeat button is light grey, it's completely turned off.
