Cancel your trials on time

Cancel your trials on time

I had a free trial set up back in 2020 that I had forgotten about. I was certain that I canceled before the expiration, but had no record of that. Spotify has continued to charge me $12.98 a month for the last 4+ years for a total near $700.

I never actually used the service but they refused to refund my money. They did agree to send back 6 payments for $12.98.

So, great. I got charged $700 for something I never used and got back $77.88.

Be careful with their policies. They care way more about profits than they do about customer satisfaction or fairness. Use any other music service, bit not Spotify.

Here’s a rundown of why it’s wise to cancel trials on time, before 48 hours of renewal.

  1. Avoid Unwanted Charges: Most trials will automatically convert into paid subscriptions if not canceled in time. This can lead to unexpected charges on your credit card.

  2. Financial Management: Keeping track of what you spend is essential. Paying for services you don’t use can mess with your budget.

  3. Free Up Resources: Cancelling trials you don’t need ensures your time and resources are focused on things you truly value.

  4. Ethical Practice: Sticking to the terms of service shows respect for the companies providing the trials. They often use trial feedback for improvement.

  5. Avoid Hassle: It’s easier to cancel on time than to go through the process of trying to get a refund after being charged.

Remember, it’s a good idea to set a reminder for yourself so you won’t forget to cancel any trials you decide not to keep! 😊
