Least favorite genres of music

What are some of your least favorite genres of music to hear?

For me, some genres of music that I generally find to be annoying include:

• Pop
• Rap/Hip-hop
• Country
• EDM

I don't bother to keep up with which releases are in the top charts, but I'm guessing that I wouldn't enjoy music that has that much mainstream appeal, either; I'd go as far as to say that I even tend to avoid listening to contemporary artists who have very high numbers of monthly listeners when I come across them on Spotify, the main reason being that I can be fairly certain that their music style doesn't reflect the sort of music that I do enjoy listening to.

For the most part, I enjoy listening to certain subgenres of rock music such as "stoner rock," "heavy psych," and "space rock" to name a few, which I'd definitely consider to be more "underground" compared to pop and its various subgenres. Within my favorite subgenres of music, I think it's rare for any band (except for perhaps some pioneering artists from the 1960s-1970s), to have over a million or so monthly listeners on Spotify at any time. In contrast, artists that are featured as "popular" music recommendations on the Home screen of the app seem to generally have much wider listening audiences, based on their relative monthly listener numbers there.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to have a hard time enjoying any songs from entire genres of music, as long as there are still other genres to delve into that I'm really passionate about. However, sometimes I think that it would be nice to be able to appreciate more popular styles of music, so that it would be more likely that I enjoy listening to the same music as any given person who I might be talking to at the moment.

My least favorite genre of music would have to be country. By itself I don’t get the appeal. Interestingly enough, I’ve heard some cross-genre country music that I surprisingly like.
