Share your favorite “Sort by” view when checking out a new playlist on Spotify

When you view a Spotify playlist that you haven’t ever seen before, do you change the  “Sort by” view from Custom order to another view (such as by “Artist” or “Date added”)?

On the desktop app, the “Sort by” options can be found by clicking this icon at the top-right of a playlist when you’re viewing it:

And on a mobile device or tablet, you can access these options when viewing a playlist by pulling down and releasing, and then tapping Sort on the right side of the search bar that appears at the top of the screen.

For me, when I check out a playlist that I haven’t seen before and it seems like it could be of interest, I initially sort the playlist by “Artist.” This way, I can more easily scan through all the artists in the playlist, since all the songs by the same artist are in the same relative location in the playlist; I’ve found that focusing on which artists are in the playlist, using this particular “Sort by” option, can be a quick way of gauging how well the playlist matches my own music taste.

I’m curious to hear about how other Spotify users sort playlists when viewing them for the first time as well, so feel free to share!
