I demand to know why Spotify is paying for Trump's inauguration.
This can not stand, and it's a be or not be question for me.
I'M DONE. CANCELLED AS SOON AS I SAW IT. SPOTIFY, YOU DONE GOOFED.
I've been in the top 1-3% of listeners for years and sometimes pause my premium account for financial reasons but always resubscribe.
TO SPOTIFY: I will not subscribe to your product until you have formally apologized for your association with this nihilistic administration. I don't care if that means I never open the app again. There are other ways. How dare you.
Perhaps because 3/4 of the USA voted for him?
In an article on pitchfork,I learned that Spotify is supporting the Trump administration, calling it "business as usual." This kind of casual dismissal of fascism in the White House and the imminent widespread suffering as a result of just his first days in office as "business as usual" reflects the dangerous idea that all politics are inherently neutral.
While Sweden, Spotify’s home base, may not be immediately impacted by Trump’s policies, his self-serving behavior and disregard for democratic norms will have a ripple effect on global stability. By hosting events and donating $150,000 to the inauguration, Spotify is not remaining neutral—it is actively contributing to the normalization of authoritarianism and the erosion of democratic values.
This choice goes beyond a “business decision.” Spotify is positioning itself as a platform that uplifts creators who perpetuate harmful ideologies, such as Ben Shapiro, and consistently gives a platform to divisive and misinformation-spreading voices. This pattern of behavior not only alienates users like myself but also directly undermines Spotify’s potential as a force for good in an increasingly polarized world.
As a long-time subscriber, I decided to cancel my account after reading this article—and will do so immediately after logging this suggestion—because I cannot in good conscience support a company that chooses to fund and platform those who enable harmful rhetoric and policies.
Neutrality in the face of injustice is not neutrality—it is complicity. If Spotify continues down this path, it will only alienate more users who value justice and accountability.Spotify should consider whether its profit-driven decisions, which amplify harm, are worth alienating the very users who once trusted it—and whether the short-term profits gained through this alliance are truly sustainable.
You sure 😂

I would also like to see Spotify make a public apology for this, and that apology should include a donation of equal magnitude to LGBT+ communities in the US, especially in support for transgender people in the US, as well as to other minorities directly harmed by this action.
I am transgender, and have transgender friends in the US. I can no longer support Spotify if doing so would cause harm to my friends. I expected way more from Spotify to be honest, than to join in with such a hefty donation in support for suppressing transgender and LGBT+ rights, as well as the rights of other minorities.
If I don't see a serious public apology from Spotify about this soon, I see no option than to leave Spotify. And I will urge all LGBT+ people and people of other minorities that are directly harmed by this action to do the same. Let's not financially support the oppression against ourselves.
Did you see that Spotify donated $150,000 to US President Donald Trump's Inauguration fund? This is unacceptable and we should all stop supporting this platform. There are other, more ethical platforms, to which we can easily transfer our playlists!
Hey Spotify, you paid for Trump's fiesta.
Bye bye.
What a waste of money that could have been invested elsewhere.
Yeah i heard and unsubscribed immediately. My money is not going to go to the American Hitler Lovers Party if I can help it. Their service has gone downhill lately anyway.
how do I transfer playlists?
yeah i saw this and looked it up to see only a few sources reporting on it, but tbh im not gonna risk putting my money towards a company supporting a dictator. this has been long overdue, but time to find a new streaming service!
I decided to quit my Spotify (student) Premium Subscription when I saw this on the news & clearly stated my reasoning in the quit form. Previously, I had been disappointed in how little Spotify pays for its Artists, but this was crossing the line for me. I moved over to TIDAL a great alternative instead of Spotify since it has a similar layout & the functions are more or less the same. It's also cheaper than Spotify and it's also one of the highest-paying per-stream services out there for artists.
Can wholeheartedly recommend TIDAL for anyone wanting to move away from Spotify!
How can I justify to keep paying for the service?

My Question or Issue
what other musicplatforms could be used? That are dictaor unfriendly?
they're not gonna do that and hosting a party for trump and donating to him says that well. You, along with many others demanding spotify apologizes for this are gonna be sorely disappointed if you truly expect that. I truly believe you are an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, but if you can't leave a music app after they very publicly (though basically indirectly) showed their support for MAGA and trump himself, then I don't believe you'll stop using the app if they don't put out an apology. Trump is racist, a rªpist, homophobic and transphobic.
I just cancelled my account and moved all my music over to Tidal. They actually donate to social justice causes and didn’t send a penny to the tangerine tyrant!
for those wondering which music service to switch to, GO WITH TIDAL! Google (which owns YT Music), Apple and Amazon ALL DONATED TO TRUMP. Tidal, on the other hand, actually donates to social justice causes like BLM and didnt donate a single penny to a dictator!! you can also use SongShift to transfer your playlists between services!
I just ditched my premium subscription to Spotify and deleted the app from all my devices. It was long overdue - thank you for this last straw.
