Let me choose.

Let me disable Spotify-created playlists. They are simply my own saved music spat back at me. I do not enjoy it and it obfuscates the real playlists curated by creative individuals. I click on a jazz “created by Spotify” playlist and it serves me Peach Pit. Idiotic. I use this app to discover new music and it fails at that task now. 

Let me choose to remove videos, you are not YouTube, and you are failing at mimicking them. Let me clean all the bull **bleep** off of the main screen on the app. I do not care for my Spotify to be cluttered with story-like widgets autoplaying and stealing my limited attention. Show me my recents, and kindly **bleep** off beyond that. 

Your service was once my favorite, and now it is rotting away, just like all the rest of them (see twitter, instagram, meta, etc.). Happy to see you sell out, Spotify. I can’t say I am surprised. You have always ripped off the ARTISTS, but now you also screw your USERS. Sounds to me like the only people benefitting from your recent changes are the EXECUTIVES and the ADVERTISERS. Fix it and make it a SERVICE to the user, not a way to scrape their data, attention, and time. You have enough money. Executive pay-cuts, people, it’s not that hard. Your CEO’s net worth is in the BILLIONS (4.x B, Wikipedia reports! That’s evil lair on your private island money. Ever seen Glass Onion?) Take a mother loving chill pill. I cannot see how you need to “squeeze more juice”, you’ve already gorged yourself plenty. Probably smells like sugar when you sweat. 

More generally, the internet is now an incredibly frustrating and predatory whirl of misinformation, pop up ads, and unwanted content. You are one of them. You are one of the problems. Fix it, or I’m gone. I have no patience. I got my whole family on this app and I will crusade against you until the end of time unless you value your real customers. Without users you lose Network Externality advantages. Don’t forget that.

The reason I left Spotify Premium. Spotify used to be such an great app and now it is just a cluttered, commercial-driven mess.

I just left them for another service for pretty much the reasons in the first post. Getting stuck with Joe Rogan for 2 months really sealed that deal for me (I don't listen to podcasts). Then the smart shuffle came along and wont leave me alone. Cant turn it off it just turns back on and turns on by default now when Spotify opens. The normal shuffle just shuffles the same songs and some of playlists have thousands of songs. Anyway good bye. Also, don't let your content keep you...the service I moved has a tool that exported all my playlists over to them (songs they don't have wont port over but most all of mine did).

We all have problems with Spotify, and there might be options if you need them.

However as I look at the stats, nowhere can be seen that Spotify is losing any customers in big picture.

My only complaint is still, please either use big boxes or current tiles, the mixed view of them is not my taste.

I have an email out to Spotify directly, and I will update if they take any positive action. 

In lieu of that, it seems the appropriate "solution" will be to delete my account, ceasing payments to this company, and moving to one of the "alternatives" hinted in some replied below. If you look into it, those alternatives also pay the artists a bit more fairly. In 2025 (per publically availabe information) Spotify pays artists around $0.003 - $0.005 (that is 3/10 a cent to 1/2 a cent) per stream, and I am struggling to find an alternative that is at or below that rate.
