Recently Played History

Recently Played History

I'm using the Spotify API and sending get requests for recently played tracks and the responses I am getting are not up to date with the songs I have recently listened to. I am getting songs that I played yesterday despite having played many songs afterward. I am not using any before/after parameters, and am using a limit of 5 recently played songs.

I am wondering if Spotify isn't updating frequently or if I have to manually update my own history.

Hi gOrdn, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I understand how frustrating it can be when your recently played tracks don't seem to update as expected. Let’s try to figure this out together.

First, make sure that the device you are using is connected to the internet and that the Spotify app is not in offline mode. If you've been using Spotify offline, it might not have synced your listening history with Spotify's servers yet. You could also try listening to tracks on a different device to see if the recently played list updates correctly. Sometimes, this issue can be specific to one device.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

could it be that OP is skipping tracks that may not show up in the recently played endpoint?

The recently-played endpoint doesn't return any skipped songs, regardless of how long the song played before skipping it, is there a way to also get the skipped songs?
